Christmas continued this evening with a trip into downtown Honolulu to the Neal S. Blaisdell Center Concert Hall for a Wicked evening.
I have seen this show before, however, it was just as good (if not better) the second time around. Elphaba – the wicked witch – was in exceptional form tonight; I was almost brought to tears a couple times by the power of her voice. I mean, WOW.
Before the show began Daniel and I smartly pre ordered our intermission drinks. I simply haven’t been to enough shows (hint, hint honey) because this concept was new to me. I quite like it … except my drink was a bit watery from having been prepped too early. Oh well – beats the line.
Intermission flew by. We basically slammed our drinks and made pit stops at our respective watering holes before heading back up to our awesome seats in the balcony. And we barely made back to our seats in time – in fact, we were told that we, along with several other tardy (by about 7 seconds) bathroom patrons, must make our way to standing room only. NO WAY. As we reluctantly made our way to the shunned standing area, an angel usher told us to hurry the heck up to our seats. We all but sprinted, somehow managing to be the only couple to be able to slip back in. I guess it pays to be in shape! My heart was pounding, partly from racing but mostly from the embarrassment of crawly over punctual ticket holders. Whoops. So maybe we will skip the ruby slippers next time …
Anyway, I love that Daniel loves the theater as much as I do! I just wish he also liked my after-market renditions …
Next theater trip – Regal Cinemas to see Les Miserables.
